#6 Ming Dynasty Gold Tripod Vessel – $14.2 million

dating from the Xuande Period of the Ming dynasty, this gold tripod vessel is made from 18-karat gold. also, it is embellished with precious cabochon gems, rubies, natural pearls, sapphires & cat’s eye chrysoberyl. the antique was sold at Sotheby’s in 2008, in Hong Kong.

#5 Pink-enamelled blue and white moonflask – $15.1 million

this antique moonflask contains the Qianlong 6-character mark. the mark dates the moonflask to 1736 – 1795. the item is 48.9 cm high, & has 2 phoenix and a flaming pearl, all in pink enamel.the shape shows that the moonflask has a 15th century style. an identical object can be found at the Matsuoka Art Museum in Tokyo. in 1987, the moonflask was sold at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong.

#3 Badminton Cabinet – $28.8 milliont

this antique item was made in 6 years, by 30 craftsmen.the piece is now in the Liechtenstein Museum, although it was sold once to the Prince of Liechtenstein.the 18th-century badminton cabinet is over 12 feet tall. it is embellished with polished & coloured stones, including semi-precious gems. there is a clock at the top of the badminton cabinet, which is marked with fleurs-de-lis.

the Codex Leicester is a collection of scientific writings by Leonardo da Vinci. this antique was named after Earl of Leicester, who owned the codex in 1719. there are 30 scientific journals, & the Codex is considered to be the most famous of all. this sure is one of the most expensive antiques in the world & guess who puchased it? Bill Gates bought it at auction for $30.8 million. also, he had it digitally scanned and it’s available on CD. good guy, Bill Gates!
